Allen Moore (AJ) undertook basic trade training with Nirrumbuk Aboriginal Corporation and then travelled to Melbourne to commence his Apprenticeship. His practical training took place with Collingwood Building
Services, Scott Dowsett Plumbing Services, C.L.Godfrey, T.A. Plumbing, Contract Hydraulics Services, Entire Mechanical Services and Geschke Plumbing. Allen was recognised by his employer as someone who was
extremely reliable and hard working. AJ returned to Broome and is presently working with the newly formed not-for-profit plumbing company NUDJ. |

Coree Thorpe is one of the first Victorian Koori's to enter the Apprenticeship scheme, he was instrumental in helping the kids from Broome settle into their new life in Victoria. Coree worked consistently to qualify and is now working as a plumber with the Yarra Council in Victoria. During his training Coree worked with A.G. Coombs, PRM Engineering Services, Allstaff Airconditioning, Entire Mechanical Services, Contract Hydraulics
Services, Project Developments, Fleetwood Industrial Services, Geschke Plumbing and Collingwood Building Services. |

Tehani Mahony, originally from Broome, was the only female Plumbing Apprentice to travel from Western Australia to complete her training. Upon leaving school Tehani began training as a nurse, she soon found a
more practical application for her skills when she decided to return to Broome and join the Warang Jarri Lian project. Her initial induction was with Nirrumbuk Aboriginal Corporation and upon completion she travelled
to Victoria to complete her trade training. Tehani has returned to Broome to work with the newly established not-for-profit plumbing company NUDJ, along with AJ Moore. This initiative aims to ensure that safe and
reliable water systems are provided and maintained in Aboriginal communities within the Kimberly area. Tehani was also awarded the PBA Safety – Peter Pratt Family Indigenous Apprentice Award. During her time
with VICTEC she was hosted predominantly with AG Coombs, Fleetwood Industrial Services, Adleck Roofing, C.D.C Plumbing and Drainage and Crown Limited.

Ethan Corpus undertook the initial preparation at Nirrumbuk Aboriginal Corporation and joined the Warang Jarri Lian Program. He travelled to Melbourne where he spent one and a half years working with VICTEC. He indicated his desire to return home and a transfer of his apprenticeship was facilitated to allow for completion in Broome. Ethan continues to work full time in Broome. |

John Mullins originates from Darwin, he joined the program shortly after hearing of the opportunities available in Victoria. He has recently qualified and continues his football career with Port Melbourne whilst
training to be an organiser with the PTEU. During his training John was hosted by A.E. Smith Vic Construction, Fleetwood Industrial Services, PJM Engineering, James L Williams, C.L. Godfrey, D&E Airconditioning,
Collingwood Building Services, Scott Dowsett Plumbing, Barden Steeldeck Industries and Copperform. Johno was awarded the PBA Safety – Peter Pratt Family Indigenous Apprentice Award. Johno now works for the
Plumbers' Union in Victoria and is undertaking the ACTU's organising works program in 2010. |

Mungara Brown is a Victorian Koori, an accomplished footballer and now a qualified Plumber. In 2008 he received the VICTEC Excellence Award for 3rd year Plumber of the Year. He undertook his training with A G Coombs, C.L. Godfrey, Syfon Systems and Chadoak Plumbing and Draining. Mungara now works permanently with AG Coombs and is a father to two young children. Watching Mungara complete his trade has sparked the
interest of his peers and resulted in other young Victorians taking up the opportunity. Mungara continues to be a role model within his immediate family and community. |
